About PNCE

Abdullah Taha Bakhsh center of excellence in pediatric Nephrology represents a partnership between the university and the society to provide optimum health care for our children. The start of providing a specialized kidney care of children at King Abdulaziz University Hospital was with the return of Professor Jameela Abdulaziz Kari from Britain in August 2000. During this time from 2000 to 2015, the unit was established to provide comprehensive kidney care for Jeddah's children supervised by a distinguished group of consultants and specialists in renal diseases in children

The Unit has been equipped for providing renal replacement therapy including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis in children. Providing such treatment in children, needs a sophisticated technique and specialized nurses and doctors. Younger children represent a technical challenge for staff due to their small size. The unit is also distinguished by treating rare kidney diseases such as steroid resistance nephrotic syndrome, tubular diseases and rare genetic syndromes.

Such comprehensive services were under very high demand. more than that currently available. Furthermore, there is lack of precise diagnostic accuracy for some rare diseases caused by reduced resources, which is often an expensive and not available in other centers in the kingdom.

On April 2015, Sheikh Samoaal generously offered considerable donation to establish a specialized center to provide optimum health care for kidney diseases in children. King Abdulaziz University has welcomed the idea and contributed by providing the private wing of the Center with a capacity of 12 beds as well as the private wing for the peritoneal dialysis clinics which includes 4 clinic rooms and 2-day care rooms. Additionally, there are 8 beds for hemodialysis and 3 administrative rooms.

Immense efforts were made to establish this charity center and after a year of challenging work, On April 2016 we begun to admit children in Sheikh Abdullah Taha Bakhsh Center of excellence for pediatric Nephrology. This charity work is aimed to alleviate the suffering of children and their families and provide them with the best health care standards and outcome.

More-over, we aim to increase public awareness of the renal diseases in children and how to prevent and diagnose them early. We seek to provide deep understanding of renal diseases in children by performing scientific research and increasing its dissemination via means of participating in local and international conferences and seminars in the field of pediatric renal diseases. Abdullah Bakhsh center of excellence in pediatric nephrology is the only center in Western and Southern region that's offers fellowship training children in pediatric Nephrology

For such a great work to continue and for such a partnership to be sustainable, we need to continue the hard work and we need the continuous financial support from the wealthy community members.  In addition to distinguished medical care providers to offer the best for our children.
