Abstract
:
This thesis aims to shed light on the fruitful efforts and valuable views of our early scholars through studying their discussions, dialogues, and the arguments and principles they used in their objections to one another. This work lists the objections of Ibn Hisham Al-Ansari to Al-Akhfash Al-Awsat in Mughni Allabeeb 'an Kutub Ala'arib classified into 26 issues, while it also identifies the other scholars' disagreements with the objections, verifies them, and ensures their attribution to them. These are followed by a presentation of the fundamentals of grammar on which Ibn Hisham based his objections to Al-Akhfash, such as Hearing, Syllogism, Consensus, and other pieces of evidence like Inference, Correct Meaning, and Direction Rules. This study is based on a descriptive approach to the grammatical issues about which Ibn Hisham objected to Al-Akhfash, organized according to their order in Mughni Allabeeb. A significant result of this research is giving dominance to many of the views of Ibn Hisham in his response to Al-Akhfash on the basis of the former's strong arguments and the fundamentals of grammar that he applied. Another result is that the views of Ibn Hisham are mostly of a Basri character, while Al-Akhfash is known for his frequent disagreement with Basri grammarians in spite of the fact that he was one of the leading scholars of Basra. He agreed with the Basris on only few points while he agreed with the Kofis on many others. Other times he had his own views and didn't follow the lead of any school. The thesis also specifies the fundamentals that each scholar applied. The study recommends that the scholars' objections to one another be tracked and documented, and their arguments and the standards they followed be understood. This will enrich the investigators' knowledge, expand their perceptions, enhance their thinking skills, and reveal the treasures hidden in grammatical works. May God have mercy on our scholars' souls, and may He bless us with their knowledge.
